Since its inception in the Fall of 2012, the Colorado State Climbing Team has been a beacon of excellence and camaraderie within the CSU Athletics community. What started as a passion project to bring climbers together and cultivate a thriving climbing community has blossomed into a powerhouse of talent and determination.
Competing in USA Climbing’s Collegiate series (formerly known as CCS), the CSU Climbing Team wasted no time in making their mark on the national stage. Shortly after their formation, they embarked on a journey that would soon turn into remarkable success.
One of their earliest achievements came in the Fall of 2014 when they were officially recognized as one of the 31 official sports clubs at Colorado State University. This recognition not only solidified their place within the university but also provided a platform for them to further elevate their performance and impact.
The team’s competitive prowess became increasingly evident as they clinched the Rocky Mountain region title for four consecutive years, showcasing their dominance in the collegiate climbing arena. Their dedication and hard work culminated in back-to-back national championship titles in 2015 and 2016, solidifying their status as one of the top climbing teams in the country. In 2022, they once again demonstrated their strength and skill by securing a commendable 3rd place finish in the nation, further cementing their legacy of excellence.
But beyond their impressive achievements on the climbing wall, the CSU Climbing Team embodies the values of teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship. They serve as role models for aspiring climbers and inspire the entire CSU community with their passion and dedication to their sport.
