Is an annual eye exam really necessary? Well actually, it is! A comprehensive eye exam not only checks your vision, but also screens your neurological function, eye pressure, eye muscle coordination, and the health of the internal and external eye structures. Dozens of systemic diseases show symptoms in the eye and can be caught early with a routine eye screening including arthritis, diabetes, hypertension and heart disease, and some types of cancers. In today's world, high use of technology has also increased our visual demands greatly causing increased headaches, eye strain, and dry eyes. Annual screening is an especially great idea for those over the age of 40 due to normal age-related vision changes and those with a family history of eye disease.
Children are also routinely screened by their pediatricians for potential vision problems at around 6 months of age and again around age 3. At Edge Optics we provide eye exams for children under 2 at no cost to you! School-age children with vision problems are significantly more likely to be diagnosed with a learning disability or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and can have difficulty in reading, writing, or math, verbally expressing themselves or behaving appropriately in social situations.
If it's been a year or more since your last exam, call to get in with us today! We see patients 6 days a week in our friendly office, and will find just the right eye health solution for you!
